While tech is getting more affordable and accessible, some things are still just plain expensive. A MacBook will set you back at least $1,000, which is a nice chunk of change. Plus, if you want to turn it into a work station, you have to get a monitor and those can cost a couple hundred bucks if you want good size and quality.
One solution to condense your costs is to get an iMac. You can buy one of these all-in-one desktops for about the same price as a MacBook alone, and then you don't need to spend extra cash on a monitor.
