YouTube’s pedophilia problem: more than 400 channels deleted as advertisers flee over child predators

TwitterFacebook

YouTube is in crisis mode yet again.

On Wednesday night, the online video giant announced it had banned more than 400 channels and disabled comments on tens of millions of videos following a growing YouTube controversy concerning child exploitation. However, many major brands, like Disney, AT&T, Nestle, and Fortnite are jumping ship an halting all YouTube advertising in its wake.

Over the weekend, a YouTube video highlighting child predators’ rampant use of the platform had gone viral. YouTuber Matt Watson posted the video walking users through how a simple YouTube search can easily uncover “soft” pedophilia rings on the video service. Read more...

Samsung's annoying Bixby button is finally customizable

TwitterFacebook

Samsung's new Galaxy S10 series is the company's third lineup of flagship phones to come with Bixby built-in.

But the phones will be the first to let you actually change what that Bixby button does, addressing what has long been one of Samsung's most frustrating features.

The company confirmed the change in a blog post, noting that the S10 will be the first of Samsung's phones to have "Bixby Key Customization," which lets users change their Bixby settings so that pressing the Bixby button once or twice will launch a third-party app of their choice. Samsung also said it would extend the feature to its earlier phones with Bixby, including the S8, S9, and Note9, in a future software update. Read more...

Eminem is also mad about Netflix cancelling Marvel's 'The Punisher'

TwitterFacebook

Although not entirely unexpected, Netflix's cancellation of Marvel's The Punisher and Jessica Jones has struck some nerves.

Particularly not pleased about The Punisher being cut was Eminem, who wrote a caps-only tweet admonishing the streaming giant for its decision.

Although, credit to Eminem, he was still polite enough to end his tweet with a "sincerely."

DEAR @NETFLIX,

REGARDING YOUR CANCELLATION OF THE PUNISHER, YOU ARE BLOWING IT!!

SINCERELY,
MARSHALL

— Marshall Mathers (@Eminem) February 21, 2019

Eminem's tweet prompted a response from some of The Punisher's cast, like Amber Rose Revah, who played Dinah Madani in the series. Read more...

Trump's climate expert is wrong: The world's plants don't need more CO2

TwitterFacebook

Plants on Earth have flourished for hundreds of millions of years, yet President Donald Trump's pick to lead his new climate team insists that they need more carbon dioxide to thrive.

Princeton physicist and carbon dioxide-advocate William Happer has been selected to head the brand new Presidential Committee on Climate Security, reports The Washington Post. The atomic scientist — who achieved recognition for his work on atomic collisions and telescope optics, not climate science — maintains that the planet's atmosphere needs significantly more CO2, the potent greenhouse gas that U.S. government scientists — and a bevy of independent scientists — have repeatedly underscored is stoking accelerating climate change. Elon Musk would rather sit in freeway traffic with Autopilot than use Waze

TwitterFacebook

While making bold predictions about full self-driving cars during a podcast session with an investment firm this week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk also shared how he gets around – in a very Tesla way.

In the conversation with ARK Invest — a Tesla shareholder that wrote a stern letter to Musk after he tweeted about taking Tesla private — Musk said Tesla vehicles would be capable of self-driving by the end of this year and that by the end of 2020 human drivers wouldn't have to pay attention while the car drives and you could even take a nap until arriving to your destination.

#Autonomous cars are coming sooner than you think. Don't just take my word for it, listen to @elonmusk on the latest @ARKInvest #FYIpodcast. Thanks again for sitting down with @CathieDWood and me! https://t.co/8G4ARYGjM6 pic.twitter.com/VCpXloV0FE

Best Samsung Galaxy pre-order deals: S10, S10+, and S10e

TwitterFacebook

After nearly a decade of tweaking the Galaxy lineup, Samsung has created the most exciting phone that the company has seen in, well, forever.

No, seriously — Android has never seen anything like the Samsung Galaxy S10. It's finally available for pre-order, and come March 8, it could be in your hands. Preorders are live through March 7, when the phone will be available online and in stores.

The S10 comes in three models: The S10 itself, the bigger S10+, and the cheaper S10e. The line features edge-to-edge display (curved on the S10 and S10+) and essentially non-existent bezels, an FHD+ default resolution (they're the first HDR+ certified phone screens, actually), three cameras including an ultra-wide one, Wireless PowerShare charging, and lightning fast OnePlus performance with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 885 chip. Even Apple diehards can probably agree that the Galaxy S10 is the best-looking phone they've ever seen. Read more...

People are thirsting over this unnervingly hot statue of shirtless Abe Lincoln

TwitterFacebook

Good news everyone. Abe Lincoln is hot.

At least this statue of him is. A rock-hard Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of the United States, graces the Los Angeles federal courthouse. The 8-foot-tall young Lincoln, shirtless as can be, gazes down at the viewer in pure, unadulterated horniness. In one hand he carries a book, while the other plays with his waistband, as if he's inviting you to both take off his pants and educate yourself on the intricacies of American democracy.

If an Abercrombie and Fitch model could read, it would be the Hot Abe statue.

Reminder that the Los Angeles federal courthouse has a statue of Abraham Lincoln where he's a shirtless young stud suggestively tugging at his waistband like a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model: pic.twitter.com/32bjqEERYi

'Jeopardy!' fans are freaking out over the new format for its 'All Star Games'

TwitterFacebook

Since the dawn of the the show, Jeopardy! has followed basically the same structure. When Alex Trebek appeared on the premiere of the Jeopardy! All Star Games on Wednesday evening and called the affair "a unique event in the 35 year history of Jeopardy! programming," he sure wasn't kidding.

The quiz show decided to shake things up with "a format we have never ever before attempted," according to Trebek, for their first-ever team tournamentJeopardy! brought back all of our favorite, annoying, yet lovable competitors, and completely changed the format we've come know and love.

The typical format of a normal episode of Jeopardy! follows three individual players, and the winner gets to play again the next night. There are three rounds of trivia. The first is Single Jeopardy, where there are six categories each with five questions worth between $200 and $1,000. This is followed by Double Jeopardy which has the same amount of questions but they're worth between $400 and $2,000. Final Jeopardy ends the program and has one question where contestants are able to bet what they've earned in the game so far. The commercial breaks take place half way through Single Jeopardy, after Single Jeopardy, and after Double Jeopardy. Read more...
