The reviews are in for Drake's newest single, 'I'm Upset,' and they're not that great

Drake's upset — and some fans might be, too.

The rapper dropped his second single on Saturday night in preparation for his forthcoming album, Scorpion. The track, "I'm Upset," has hit number one on the iTunes charts already, but folks online aren't necessarily singing its praises.

On the song, Drake raps about a lot of things, including the women he's thankful to know, and keeping his money straight despite his relationships.

It's your classic Drake fodder, but considering "I'm Upset" is Drake's followup to the two smash hits he's delivered with "God's Plan" and "Nice For What," people aren't too keen on this single. Read more...

Why summer is hell for people who wear glasses

Ah, summer. It's the time of sunshine, barbecues, beach trips, and abbreviated Fridays. It's also the time when I, at least six times per day, want to pitch my stupid glasses into the beautiful, sparkling ocean.

Samantha Bee Apologizes for Calling Ivanka Trump a C*nt

Samantha Bee has come under fire for her Full Frontal segment on the 1,500 missing migrant children from last night. The segment, in which Bee called Ivanka Trump a “feckless cunt” for refusing to act against her father’s cruel immigration policies, drew intense criticism from White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who commented on the segment to The Wrap earlier today. “The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious. The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling,” Sanders said. “Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.” At least one advertiser, Autotrader, has since announced that it’s ended its sponsorship of Bee’s show:

Grammy President Neil Portnow Will Reportedly Exit Next Year

Months after Recording Academy president Neil Portnow said women need to “step up” to solve their underrpresentation in the Grammy nominations, he’s stepping down. Billboard reports that Portnow won’t return as president when his contract expires next year. Portnow has been in the position since 2002, and reportedly, a successor will be named by next summer. (Might we suggest, say, a woman?) The news of his departure follows months of bad press that saw several female music executives call for his resignation in response to his comments. Instead, Portnow launched a task force to investigate the Academy’s diversity issues that will be headed by Time’s Up co-founder Tina Tchen. Recently, Portnow was accused by a former staff member of funneling money from the Academy’s MusiCares charity to pay for the financial losses from this year’s Grammys telecast.

Cosby Accuser Details Her Assault: ‘I Was Crying Out Inside’

The only woman Bill Cosby has been convicted of sexually assaulting is speaking out for the first time. Andrea Constand, who was at the center of both his trials, has given her first interview in 13 years to NBC’s Dateline. In a clip from the interview, the former Temple University women’s basketball administrator describes the night in 2004 that Cosby assaulted her, saying he gave her three blue pills that he called her “friends.” Thirty minutes later, Constand says she began losing motor function and was moved over to a couch where Cosby assaulted her. “My mind is saying, Move your hands, kick, can you do anything? I don’t want this, why is this person doing this? And me not being able to react in any specific way,” she says. “I was a limp noodle. I was in and out of consciousness. I was crying out inside in my throat in my mind for this to stop and I couldn’t do anything.” The full interview airs on NBC on Friday night.

Drake Clarifies and Defends Blackface Photo From Pusha-T Dis

The world has been waiting with bated breath for Drake’s response to the epically scalding Pusha-T diss track “The Story of Adidon.” And now finally, the Canadian rapper, who was called out for “hiding a child” and whose parents and best friend were both targeted in the track, has released a statement defending … the cover art of himself in blackface.

In a screenshot of what appears to be an Apple Notes document posted to his Instagram story the rapper writes, “I know everyone is enjoying the circus but I want to clarify this image in question. This was not from a clothing-brand shoot or my music career. This picture is from 2007, a time in my life where I was an actor and I was working on a project that was about young black actors struggling to get roles, being stereotyped and type cast. The photos represented how African Americans were once wrongfully portrayed in entertainment. Me and my best friend at the time Mazin Elsadig who is also an actor from Sudan were attempting to use our voice to bring awareness to the issues we dealt with all the time as black actors at auditions. This was to highlight and raise our frustrations with not always getting a fair chance in the industry and to make a point that the struggle for black actors had not changed much.”

Too Black Guys, the clothing brand initially thought to be involved with the photo, has also issued a statement defending the blackface. They confirm he is wearing one of their shirts, but say the photo was not taken for their brand:

The photo in question was not from a Too Black Guys photoshoot however it did feature clothing from Too Black Guys’ JIM CROW COUTURE/HOUSE OF CROW collection which was released in 2008. The collection featured several graphics that highlighted the painful and dangerous period of the Jim Crow Era.

Too Black Guys has a history of representing the black experience in an unapologetic way. Although this was not an image from any of our photoshoots, we feel that Drake, who is a long- time friend of the brand, was brilliantly illustrating the hypocrisy of the Jim Crow Era.

The subtleties of Drake, a young black man, mimicking how white men used to mimic and dehumanize black people may be lost in a rap battle but we should not be distracted from the issues that are still affecting our communities.

Steam's removal of the 'Active Shooter' game addresses a symptom, not the cause

Let's be clear about one thing up front: There is no reasonable scenario where a video game about shooting up a high school is acceptable. None.

How then did Active Shooter, a game that promised to let you play the role of a school shooter while tracking stats like "civilians killed" and "cops killed," end up with a product page on Steam? The game has since been dropped, but that it was there at all is troubling.
